The Rules
Here's roughly how the game works:
- Pick one club to play with each round.
- If your club wins, you earn 3 points.
- On a draw, you get 1 point.
- You may pick the same club a maximum of 2 times per season.
- You have 3 jokers to double your points that round.
- The season is divided into 4 periods, so you can also become period champion.

An Example
Heinz picks HSV in Round 1. HSV plays Bayern that round and wins 7-1. Heinz gets 3 points for HSV's win, 7 goals for and 1 goal against.
Gertrude picks Mainz in Round 1. Mainz plays Hoffenheim and the match ends 0-0. Gertrude gets 1 point for Mainz's draw. The standings then look like this:
| Name | Pts | Goals for | Goals against | Goal difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heinz | 3 | 7 | 1 | +6 |
| Gertrude | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
In Round 2, Heinz picks Bremen. Bremen plays Leverkusen that round and loses 1-4. Heinz gets 0 points for Bremen's loss, 1 goal for and 4 goals against.
Gertrude picks Dortmund in Round 2. Dortmund plays Wolfsburg and wins 2-1. Gertrude gets 3 points for Dortmund's win, 2 goals for and 1 goal against. The standings then look like this:
| Name | Pts | Goals for | Goals against | Goal difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gertrude | 4 | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Heinz | 3 | 8 | 5 | +3 |
Suppose Gertrude had used a joker in Round 2. Then her Round 2 result would have doubled, so 6 points, 4 goals for and 2 goals against.
Good tactics
We don't know what a good tactic is. It comes down to knowledge, skill, insight and pure luck.
There are 34 matchdays and 18 clubs. You may pick each club a maximum of 2 times. That means you don't have to pick 1 club at all, or you can pick 2 clubs just once. You can decide not to pick a weaker club at all. Or that one club you can't stand, so you don't have to cheer for them. You're completely free to figure it all out and decide for yourself.
We also don't know what a good tactic is for using jokers. It does seem better, though, to use a joker on a match where you think it's fairly certain your chosen club will win.
But in the end, everything always turns out differently than planned anyway.
